Global Village Fair: How It All Works
Simply choose your gifts, select the type of gift card you would like, and then proceed to the checkout where you can enter your details and make a secure payment online using a credit or debit card. As part of your order we'll send you a card for each gift you're giving. Each card has details of your gift, and comes with an envelope ready for you to personalise and send. It's as simple as that... sit back and feel good about the generosity you've bestowed not only on your chosen recipient, but the Mothers' Union beneficiaries around the world you've helped!
How each gift works
When you give a gift from the catalogue, you are buying a virtual gift. If you choose, for example, 'Honey I'm home', you're resourcing the bee-keeping and mushroom-growing training described in the gift's outline. A small proportion (around 3%), of your gift covers actual costs of delivering the project or aid to families on the ground. We're proud to say this is 10% less than the average charity virtual gift, essentially because Mothers' Union is a grassroots network, not a top-down administration.
What will I receive?
Unless you specifically select the "No Card" option you'll be sent a card for the occasion you've selected, such as Happy Birthday, With Sympathy, Blank Card, etc. Each card also details the provision of the gift you chose.
When will my gift card be delivered?
We always aim to send the cards out in the quickest possible time from when we receive your order. This is typically within five working days. Please allow enough time to post on your order to your intended recipient. If you need it urgently, please telephone us after placing your order - we're very happy to do our utmost to help.
Can I Gift Aid my gift?
Please do! Many pensions allow Gift Aid too - please check if yours does before you leave the Gift Aid section blank. Gift Aid increases your donation at no cost to you. For every £1 you Gift Aid, Mothers' Union can claim an additional 25p - so for a £19 gift, the government gives us an additional £4.75 (providing this is as much as or more than the tax you've paid altogether this year).
Am I safe making a payment online?
Absolutely! Our online payments are handled by SecureTrading on a secure server. SecureTrading has the most sophisticated online payment system available, allowing us to safely process your credit card payment with the bank and complete the financial transactions securely. All transactions that take place are encrypted between your browser and the server. Nobody is able to obtain your credit card details or other information.
